People of Peru Project is providing aid to the region of Peru, located at the headwaters of the Amazon River. Iquitos is a city of 600,000 people surrounded by thousands of square miles of jungle.

Poverty plagues this city.  Disease, parasites, malnutrition, rampant tooth decay, sexual abuse, and premature death are but a few.

People of Peru Project is vigilant in the fight against human trafficking and exploitation of children. Many are left alone to survive on the streets or in the surrounding jungle with no parent or family unit to provide care.

We work with the local government, social workers and the family court to identify and care for the young girls and their babies who have no support system.

Thanks to our amazing volunteers and supporters back home we are able to provide medical and dental care to thousands, education for disadvantaged children, health education to communities and opportunities for spiritual growth, to those who are searching.

We offer assistance through interactive workshops and consultations.

For many families, the only option is to put their child in an institution or orphanage

Poverty, discrimination, war or natural disaster are all factors that can cause children to become separated from their families. For many desperate parents seeking help, their only option is to put their child in an orphanage or other institution.

With support, most families could care for their children. And children without families could be looked after in family-style environments, or community-based services, where they can be provided with the care to meet their needs.

We help families to bring their children home

We work with international donors, governments and communities, helping them redirect funds from orphanages to provide health, education and social services, so children can be raised in loving families. We train professionals to deliver better care and support. We transform the conditions that leave children at risk of trafficking and abuse. We help families to bring their children home.

Working Globally to Achieve Lasting Change

Since 2009, Lumos has prevented 20,915 children from entering harmful institutions. We work to keep families together and provide support for children within their communities.
